Met Gala Looks – Our top picks and how to’s
Met Gala Wrap Up
ADILLA colab senior stylist, Keira Horgan, has done a wrap of the best looks at the Met Gala this year. For our fashion focused clients and ourselves, the first Monday in May is very much highly anticipated.
The Met Gala is where trends are birthed and some of the most iconic looks of all time, are debuted. With this year’s theme “Camp: Notes on Fashion” We knew we were in for a good one.
A lot of our clients are fashionistas and we always keep up to date with the latest trends ….so here are our favourite looks and how to get the hair.
Look 1 Kim Kardashian West – The wet look
Wet look waves. They were just as amazing as her tiny waist and she was on fire !!! She had the perfect “wet” look wearing that one of a kind Thierry Mugler dripping jewel dress, we will definitely be following in her stylist Chris Appleton’s steps with this look shortly. She truly did look like a California girl stepping right out of the ocean.
Get the Look: To get the ‘Wet Look’ at home, apply a generous amount of R+Co Mannequin styling cream to wet hair, roots to ends. Let that set, then apply a Generous amount of R+co Neon Lights. The Mannequin Styling cream sets the style, and the Neon Lights (when over loaded) Gives the hair a wet sheen that wont dry, and will maintain the wet look all night.
Look 2 Lilly Collins – The big hair blow dry
She nailed this years theme of “Camp: Notes on Fashion” by recreating A 1960s look which was pulled from an old photo of Priscilla Presley marrying Elvis in Las Vegas in 1967. Lilly looked like a 60s goddess with a big beehive bouffant ,flowers in her hair and a thick white headpiece…The beauty had very similar Long lashes as Priscilla, making her look more dramatic with her purple eyeshadow. I love the 60s glam and this is why it’s one of my favourites, we hope to bring back the Iconic beehive one day in Sydney …Even if it’s only for this years Mercedes-Benz fashion week. Thank you Gregory Russell we LOVE this look!
Get the Look: There is no doubt this look is one killer blow dry.
Prep the hair with Dallas Shampoo and conditioner. Towel dry the hair really well and drench in R+Co Dallas Thickening Spray, roots to ends, and blast dry in. Repeat this process for some KLLER volume.
Dallas is an incredible product that keeps building. Use a round brush
on 2 inchsections and leave it in to cool before moving onto the next section.
Finalise with a light hair spray.
Look 3 Ciara – Afro hair and tight curls
Third in our Top 3, has to go to our girl who made the OO’s better with her RnB hits…it’s Ciara. Her huge Afro was inspired by Diana Ross and turned many heads at this years’ Met Gala. I mean how did she even fit in a car with that amazing Mane of gorgeous tight curls …The loom was created by celeb hairstylist Cesar DeLeon Ramirez using six wigs he sewed together and I’m sure lots of hairspray. It flowed over her head and down her back and accessorised with gorgeous long hair clips which were the Perfect finishing piece for this breathtaking masterpiece. As for her dress ,it definitely beat all our expectations,The emerald green beaded Dundas gown was flawless
Get The Look: Option 1 GET A WIG!
Option 2: get a led pencil, wrap tiny sections of hair around it and tap it with a flat iron. Let it cool, then brush it out vigorously from roots to ends. You will be very surprised to see how well this works. Use only a light hairspray when doing this, as too much product might have your afro style lasting more than a week !
Look 4 Elle Fanning – Half up Ponytail Look
Our ADILLA fam knows how obsessed we are at ADILLA with an awesome ponytail. Elle Fannings’ look is one that Editorial Director Frankie Flanagan created at Coachella for one of the looks, using Poni.Me
With the now socially acceptable use of wigs, extensions and hair pieces, creating this look has become not only popular but extremely easy.
Get The Look: Prep all the hair by using a 1 inch tong to curl the hair. Take a small ‘U’ shape section around the head from recession around, tie it off. Add in the Poni.Me hair extension. To watch a video tutorial on how to do this, watch the video below
